Newport Beach, CA NCCS (Numerical Control Computer Sciences, Irvine, CA, USA) formally announced today they have entered into a technology agreement and strategic alliance with Dassault Systemes (Paris, France) which will enable Dassault Systemes to use multi-axis machining technology developed by NCCS in their NCL product, and to integrate it into CATIA manufacturing solutions.
Because of the nature of the OSD agreement and the customer networks of both companies, the development of this Multi-Axis Machining Product will be done in very close technical, marketing and managerial cooperation with Dassault Systemes.
Furthermore, NCCS and Dassault will explore new technologies and related software development such as Multi-Axis high speed milling and Feature and Process based Multi-Axis machining.
"This agreement will provide CATIA users with the Multi-Axis machining capability in terms of tool control and tool path generation that is required in the 5-axis world. Teaming up with Dassault Systemes and integrating NCCS's capability with the strength of CATIA will produce the best Multi-Axis machining software solution in the world today" says Donald F. Schultz, President of NCCS.
"NCCS will contribute to the CATIA/CADAM strategy by providing proven industrial tools for aerospace and turbo machinery companies and supporting their methods for part programming" says Eric Harle, Manager of Manufacturing Division. "This strategy is part of an end to end manufacturing solution where company processes are continuously supported by providing both flexible tools and also automated solutions for growth in quality, competitiveness and standardization".
CATIA/CADAM Application Architecture (CAA) provides industries with the software development tools, methods, standards and processes required to create seamlessly integrated applications based on CATIA open architecture. These industry specific application software based on object oriented technology complement the CATIA/CADAM solutions. The CAA partnership program creates tight development relationships with industry leading software developers. It is staged from CAA Development partnership for CAA product integration to CAA Strategic Development partnership with long term plan strategy, and CAA OSD partnership where the CAA partner acts as an extended laboratory to Dassault Systemes R & D organization.
CATIA/CADAM Solutions Version 4 provides unique solutions for integrated product and processes development and teamwork optimization. It includes an evolutionary architecture which enables customer growth and leading edge applications for task optimization. CATIA and CADAM are developed by Dassault Systemes and marketed and supported worldwide by IBM. These solutions are leaders in the CAD/ CAM/CAE/PDM marketplace with more than 8,000 customers. Many of the worlds largest manufacturers as well as smaller companies with as few as one or two seats, are gaining a competitive advantage and achieving design excellence with these systems.
NCCS was founded in 1976 by Mr. Donald F. Schultz with the expressed purpose of providing the world best software solutions for the manufacturing of complex machined parts. NCCS' multi-axis machining software, NCL placed its initial emphasis on the needs of the Aerospace and Turbo-Machinery industries. Later expansion into other industries such as Mold & Die and Automotive has provided a steady growth for NCCS' high-end marketplace.
NCL has been developed specifically for multi-axis machining applications. NCL is a powerful Computer-Aided Manufacturing system which generates simultaneous 2 through 5-axis NC tool paths and provides parametric 3-D modeling. NCL is suited for environments where design changes are frequent. All geometric modeling and tool path functions are fully associative. A change to the model results in an immediate change to corresponding tool path. NCL will also automate the manufacturing of part families. Full parametric programming allows design and manufacturing data to be represented as variables which are easily modified to produce new designs and NC programs. NCL excels in a production environment where machine time is critical. Customized manufacturing methods can be saved and applied to future projects providing efficient and consistent results.
