The latest version of PostWorks on SGI workstations boasts a new Motif style interface. Extensive use of toggle buttons, along with context sensitive help, multiple input windows, and an automatic documentation viewer simplifies the machine after it has been configured. The user can move each of the defined axes independently on the model using a control panel window. A full featured Machine Simulator program is also available.
The PostMacro feature within PostWorks supports user written
Macros which are incorporated into a machine definition file. Macros can be used to
customize postprocessor commands to conform to an existing standard and to expand the
definition of commands. Macros are similar to Basic programs and support both numeric and
textual variables, logical IF statements (including IF-THEN-ELSE), and DO loops.
PostWorks is a 2 through 10-axis postprocessor and postprocessor
generator. It converts output from most major CAM systems (including CATIA CL files) into
NC data files which can be used to run virtually any NC device including mills, lathes,
EDMs, lasers, CMMs, Mill-Turns, ultrasonic cutters, and routers. A simple Motif-style
interface enables the user to easily establish machine configurations, control unit
features, and output file formats. PostWorks automatically
creates a solid model of the machine and dynamically simulates the machines
movement. It also provides a comprehensive macro language for easy customization. PostWorks
is a proven technology used across the manufacturing spectrum and is a cost-effective
replacement to existing mainframe-based postprocessors. PostWorks
runs on most Unix workstations (SGI, Sparc, IBM, HP), DEC OpenVMS systems, and PCs
running MS-DOS.
PostWorks was developed by NCCS, the software developer of NCL
and North American distributor of VARIMETRIX (VX). NCL is the leading multi-axis CAD/CAM system used in the aerospace, automotive, and turbo machinery industries. VX is a 3D solid modeling product which includes parametric/variational solid and surface modeling, assembly modeling, associative drafting, and multiple solid/surface machining. NCCS has been an international supplier of Computer Aided Manufacturing software and services for over 20 years.
NUMERICAL CONTROL COMPUTER SCIENCES (NCCS)
Numerical Control Computer Sciences (NCCS) has been an international supplier of Computer Aided Manufacturing software and services for over 25 years. As a recognized leader in software solutions for multi-axis machining applications, its flagship product NCL is used throughout the world.
