An All New Integrated NC Verification Module

(Irvine, CA). . . Numerical Control Computer Sciences (NCCS) has announced that the latest release of their NCL multi-axis machining software (V9.0) contains an all new NC verification module. The integrated module known as NCL/IPV (In-Process-Verification) includes the following new features: a revolutionary new technology which allows true solids verification. The solid model can be rotated and zoomed during the simulation process. This is a completely new approach to NC verification resulting in an accurate solid model of the cut part which can be accurately inspected and then written into a number of standard formats including IGES and STL. Other features include the ability to measure part features such as holes, cylinders, planes, and vertices.

Users can zoom in on any portion of the cut model rendering a full resolution view of the area zoomed. The new module also provides flexible techniques for simulating tool paths that have been programmed in multiple fixturing positions.

NCL/IPV is a fully integrated NC verification module that can be accessed immediately as tool paths are being created. No intermediate file conversions or exiting your application. With NCL/IPV, NC verification becomes an integral part of the tool path development process. Simply 'click' and begin verifying. NCL/IPV simulates, verifies, and displays the metal removal process. The current model can be viewed from any orientation, cross sectioned, inspected, and compared to an existing solid model.

NCL has been developed specifically for multi-axis machining applications. NCL is a powerful Computer-Aided Manufacturing system which generates simultaneous 2 through 5-axis NC tool paths and provides parametric 3D modeling. All geometric modeling and tool path functions are fully associative. A change to the model results in an immediate change to corresponding tool paths. NCL is ideally suited for environments where design changes are frequent, such as the aerospace industry. NCL also supports full parametric programming where a family of parts can be machined by simply filling in a form. NCL excels in a production environment where machine time is critical. Customized manufacturing methods can be saved and applied to future projects providing efficient and consistent results. NCL is used extensively in the aerospace, turbo-machinery, power generation, and composite industries. NCL runs on SGI, IBM RS-6000, SUN, HP, and DEC workstations.
