Remmele Engineering Taking Advantage of the Latest Solid Modeling Technology

Newport Beach, CA – Numerical Control Computer Sciences (NCCS) of Irvine, CA has announced that Remmele Engineering of New Brighton, MN has purchased 10 seats of its VARIMETRIX 3D solid modeling software. The new seats will be distributed between Remmele's New Brighton and Big Lake facilities.

Remmele Engineering has a reputation for its high quality workmanship and diverse manufacturing capability. Among the five manufacturing facilities that comprise Remmele Engineering are some of the largest machine tools in the Midwest. Products manufactured by Remmele range from structural aircraft parts to large automotive tooling.

The VARIMETRIX solid modeling software will be used by Remmele manufacturing engineers to enhance data imported from other systems, such as CATIA. VARIMETRIX will also be used for tool design, geometric modeling, and quick tool path generation. Says Terry Morri, New Brighton Manufacturing Engineering Manager, "Varimetrix gives us a sophisticated solid modeling tool capable of communicating with our customers CAD/CAM systems at a very affordable price. The VARIMETRIX automated NC capability along with our existing NCL system gives us a complete range of NC programming capability."

Remmele is among a growing number of NCL users who have decided to implement the VARIMETRIX solid modeling technology. Others include: Alson Manufacturing Co., Brek Manufacturing Co., NC Dynamics and Ralee Engineering. Each of these companies have expressed a desire to stay on the leading edge of manufacturing technology. VARIMETRIX is being used for importing solid models, tool design and drafting, automated NC programming, creating solid and surface models, and NC verification.

VARIMETRIX is a suite of CAD/CAM/CAE software products featuring 3D solid and surface modeling, associative drafting, NC manufacturing and assembly modeling. The proprietary VARIMETRIX Unified Parametric Geometry engine (UPG) allows simultaneous modeling using solids, surfaces, and wireframes. The software offers unlimited undo/redo and comprehensive parametric editing to manage changes throughout the manufacturing project. Strengths of the VARIMETRIX product include:

Parametric Modeling: The VARIMETRIX Unified Parametric Geometry engine offers unparalleled flexibility in creating parametric models. VARIMETRIX allows the user to determine the geometry representation (solid, surface, or wireframe) best suited for a particular application. In addition, VARIMETRIX offers non-restrictive methods for creating parametric, associative relationships between individual geometric elements as well as entire processes such as drafting and NC manufacturing. Complex Surface Modeling: VARIMETRIX elegantly combines complex surface modeling with solid modeling. Unlike other solid modelers VARIMETRIX offers a full range of surface definitions that will accommodate virtually any modeling requirement. NC Manufacturing: VARIMETRIX uses an object oriented, feature based approach to create manufacturing processes. Simple to complex tool paths are easily created using any combination of solid, surface or wireframe geometry. Tool paths can quickly be generated over multiple combinations of surfaces and solids. Importing Data: VARIMETRIX offers robust data translators which include IGES, DXF, and STL. In addition a native CATIA translator is also available. The VARIMETRIX Inquire capability allows the user to measure various model attributes such as the distance between two surfaces or the radius of a fillet. Imported models can be quickly measured, shaded, and rotated thereby providing an excellent data analysis tool.

NCCS and Varimetrix Corporation of Palm Bay, Florida are currently combining their respective industry leading technologies into a single family of products which will boast state-of-the-art 3D solid design; fully associative 2D layout and drafting; assembly modeling; 2- through 5-axis multiple solid/surface machining; NC verification; and machine tool simulation.

Contact NCCS for complete details on special pricing for existing NCL users and to learn more about how VARIMETRIX is being used to give a competitive edge to manufactures around the world.
