NCCS Announces Partnership with SolidWorks

Newport Beach, California – August 1, 2003 – Numerical Control Computer Sciences (NCCS) today announced that it has become a "Solution Partner" with SolidWorks Corporation of Concord, Massachusettes with the creation of its new product, NCL/Solid. NCCS specializes in complex multi-axis CAM programming through the use of its NCL 5-axis programming system.

NCL/Solid is a direct interface that extracts a solid model from SolidWorks® software and creates an NCL Unibase for use in 5-axis CAM machining.

Utilizing the SolidWorks API, NCL/Solid is accessed directly from the SolidWorks menus and provides a direct translation of the solid part or assembly without having to go through an intermediate step, such as IGES

Robert Conway, VP, sales and marketing said, "All of the model formats supported by SolidWorks (STEP, DXF, UGII, etc.) can also be converted directly to an NCL Unibase after they read into SolidWorks, thus providing a direct translator to many of the most popular CAD systems on the market today."

Bob Schultz, Manager, software development said, "The user has the option of exporting the boundary curves along with the surfaces in the SolidWorks part or assembly. The attributes of the model will be maintained in the exported NCL Unibase. A multi-pass label matching algorithm allows for model with engineering changes or family-of-parts type models to be labeled using an existing NCL Unibase as reference, taking full advantage of the parametric machining capabilities of NCL."

NCL is a powerful computer-aided manufacturing software package, which generates simultaneous 2 through 5-axis NC tool paths and provides parametric 3D modeling. All geometric modeling and tool path functions are fully associative. A change to the model results in an immediate change to corresponding tool paths. NCL is ideally suited for multi-axis machining applications and environments where design changes are frequent.
