NCCS Makes an Investment in Education

Newport Beach, CA - Numerical Control Computer Sciences recently installed 10 seats of their NCL Multi-axis Machining Software at the State University of New York, Farmingdale.
NCL is a powerful Computer-Aided Manufacturing software package which generates simultaneous 2 through 5-axis NC tool paths and provides parametric 3D modeling. All geometric modeling and tool path functions are fully associative. A change to the model results in an immediate change to corresponding tool paths. NCL is ideally suited for environments where design changes are frequent, such as the aerospace industry. NCL also supports full parametric programming where a family of parts can be machined by simply filling in a form. NCL is used extensively in the aerospace, turbomachinery, power generation, tire mold, and composite industries.

SUNY Farmingdale established the IMR to support the economic growth of Long Island Manufacturing companies. IMR has offered advanced NC programming training since its inception, but this will be the first time NCL training will be available. Says John Trail, Regional Sales Manager for NCCS, "There are a number of Long Island based companies using NCL who have , in the past, had to send their employees to NCCS headquarters in California for training. For some, this was not a viable option." Beginning in September, trainees will be able to drive to Farmingdale a couple of nights a week to get their training.

The Director for the Institute for Manufacturing Research, Dr. Hazem Tawfik has set up training for CAD/CAM systems before, but he is very excited about being able to teach programming using one of the most advanced 4 & 5-axis CAM packages in the world. Says Tawfik, "There is a growing need for multi-axis programmers. The cost of 5-axis equipment has dropped dramatically in recent years and more companies are beginning to implement this technology." For more details on schedule and cost, contact Dr. Tawfik at (631) 420-2307 or NCCS at (949) 852-3664.
