Santa Ana, CA NCCS of Santa Ana, CA and Varimetrix Corporation of Palm Bay, FL recently announced the establishment of a joint venture between the two companies. The venture involves boththe4 sharing of technology and sales and marketing activities. The agreement brings together a remarkable blend of solid modeling technology, manufacturing expertise, and market position.
NCCS is a recognized leader in software solutions for multi-axis machining applications, particularly for aircraft and turbomachinery components requiring 3, 4, and 5-axis of simultaneous machine motion. NCCS' flagship product, NCL, is used throughout the world by leading manufacturers such as Allison Gas & Turbine, Boeing, British Aerospace, Canadair, Deutsche Airbus, FMC, Demag Delaval, Masonite, Menasco, Northrop Grumman, Martin Marietta, McDonnel Douglas, Lockheed, Pratt & Whitney, Rockwell International, Textron, Westinghouse, United Technologies and hundreds of small, medium, and large suppliers to the aerospace, automotive, composites, and turbomachinery industries.
Varimetrix Corporation is recognized in the CAD/CAM/CAE industry for its affordable yet sophisticated hybrid parametric/variational 3D design and manufacturing software. Although relatively new to the market, Varimetrix' VX product line is receiving accolades from industry experts. In February 1995, the U.K.'s CADD magazine described VX Version 4.0 as "...one of the most impressive pieces of workstation CAD/CAM software that you are ever likely to see." After an extensive evaluation of the product, CADD gave VX their "unequivocal endorsement." Here in the U.S., Advanced Systems magazine listed Varimetrix as on of 1994's "Best Products." CIMdata Research has positioned Varimetrix as one of the three most rapidly growing manufacturing software companies. CIMdata also characterized Varimetrix as a "younger and smaller Parametric Technology" due to the advanced nature of their products and aggressive pricing policies.
Varimetrix is gaining popularity in a variety of industries including aerospace, consumer products, industrial design, rapid prototyping, and other enterprises requiring an easy-to-use yet full-featured 3D solid/surface modeler. Varimetrix is also popular among manufacturers of large molds and dies because of its ability to quickly develop efficient NC tool paths on complex surfaces and solids. Among the currently users of VX are: AT&T, British Aerospace, Samsung Electronics, V-Tech, the U.S. Army, and U.K. Defense Research Agency.
NCCS and Varimetrix will combine their respective industry leading technologies into a single family of products which will boast state-of-the-art 3D solid design; fully associative 2D layout and drafting; assembly modeling; 2- through 5-axis multiple solid/surface NC tool path generation; NC verification; and machine simulation.
Products will be sold and distributed in the North American market through a new organization known as Varimetrix North America; in Europe through the existing Varimetrix Europe organization; and throughout the rest of the world by Varimetrix Corporation and it's partners. Varimetrix North America will be headquartered in Santa Ana, CA with offices in Florida and dealer partners located throughout North America.
Said Dave Schultz, Vice President of Varimetrix North America, "Our goal is to offer the industry's best solution for product design and manufacturing at a price that any company can afford."
"Our Unified Parametric Geometry (UPG) approach to 3D modeling, which provides the ability to effortlessly design in wireframe, surfaces, and solids simultaneously, is setting the pace in CAD/CAM technology. UPG, combined with the ability to easily generate virtually any NC tool path, allows VX users tot design and manufacture even the most complex products," stated Michael Crown, Director of Marketing at Varimetrix Corporation.
"We are also in the final stages of negotiations with a number of highly regarded organizations working to integrate additional applications which include analysis, photo-realistic rendering, direct data translators, and product data management (PDM.) Integration is being accomplished using OpenVX, our open architecture developers toolkit," said Crown.
"We feel we have the industry's finest solutions in our respective areas of expertise. In other areas we will offer best-of-class products from our technology partners," commented Varimetrix North America's Dave Schultz.
"At a time when other companies are releasing 'crippled' versions of their products to compete in the mid-range CAD/CAM market, we are offering uncompromised, high-end capability for both 3D design and complex manufacturing at very affordable prices," said Schultz.
