NCCS TO SHOWCASE 5-AXIS CAM PRODUCTS AT WESTEC 1999

Newport Beach, CA - NCCS is participating in WESTEC '99, North America's largest annual metalworking and manufacturing exposition, March 22-25, 1999, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. NCCS will be displaying its NCL multi-axis machining software (booth #5230). NCL is an industry leading multi-axis CAD/CAM system used by aerospace, automotive, mold and die, and other manufacturing companies throughout the world. NCL is available on a variety of UNIX workstations, and NCCS will be unveiling its new NT versions of their manufacturing products.
"WESTEC sets the pace for the machine tool and metalworking industry in this area," said Donald F. Schultz, President of NCCS. "It provides us with the ideal opportunity to meet with customers and keep abreast of new industry developments at the same time."

At NCCS’ exhibit, booth #5230, attendees will be able to see NCL, PostWorks, and NCL/IPV and learn more about the company's full line of products. According to Mr. Schultz, "NCCS has implemented more new features to its flagship product NCL". These new features include:

  • Open/GL based surface rendering for fast dynamic manipulation of complex models.
  • TLONPS command providing additional control of the tool tip during 5-axis machining operations.
  • TLAXIS/INTERP command which generates 4 & 5-axis cutter paths between user specified vectors.
  • Enhanced curve definitions on trimmed surfaces.
  • New user-friendly interface for utility products such as IGES, NCL/PLOT and the NCL tool library.
  • Optimized multiple surface machining.
  • Enhanced layer manipulation.

"We're especially excited to present NCL on NT," said Robert W. Conway, Vice President Sales & Marketing. NCL is a powerful Computer-Aided Manufacturing software package which generates simultaneous 2 through 5-axis NC tool paths and provides parametric 3D modeling. All geometric modeling and tool path functions are fully associative. A change to the model results in an immediate change to corresponding tool paths. NCL is ideally suited for environments where design changes are frequent, such as the aerospace industry. NCL also supports full parametric programming where a family of parts can be machined by simply filling in a form. NCL is used extensively in the aerospace, turbomachinery, power generation, tire mold, and composite industries.

PostWorks To Be Demonstrated
PostWorks is a universal 2 through 10-axis postprocessor and postprocessor generator. PostWorks converts output from most major CAM systems (including CATIA CL files) into NC data files which can be used to run virtually any NC device including mills, lathes, EDMs, lasers, CMMs, Mill-Turns, ultrasonic cutters, and routers. A simple Motif-style interface enables the user to easily establish machine configurations, control unit features, and output file formats. PostWorks automatically creates a solid model of the machine and dynamically simulates the machine’s movement. PostWorks also provides a comprehensive macro language for easy customization. PostWorks is proven technology used across the manufacturing mainframe-based postprocessors.

NCL/IPV Also To Be Demonstrated
NCL/IPV, In-Process-Verification, interactively simulates, verifies, and displays the metal removal process of NC tool paths as they are being created. During and after the metal removal process, the cut model can be viewed from any orientation, cross sectioned, inspected, and compared to an existing solid model. NCL/IPV is an extension to the NCL multi-axis machining software.
