NCCS TO SHOWCASE CAM PRODUCTS AT WITS 2003

Newport Beach, CA – August 1, 2003 – NCCS announces its participation in the 2003 Wichita Industrial Trade Show (WITS), taking place on October 14-16, 2003 at the Century II Convention Center, Wichita, Kansas. Visitors to the NCCS booth, number 224, will see the latest in multi-axis machining technology which will include demonstrations of NCL V9.3, the newest release of NCCS' flagship CAM product; PostWorks, a powerful universal postprocessor; and NCL/IPV, a state-of-the-art NC simulation and verification module. In addition, NCCS will also be demonstrating its specialized Application Libraries which provide features and processes that address specific manufacturing applications, such as structural aerospace components, turbo-machinery components (impellers, blisks, and airfoils), and tire molds.

Robert Conway, NCCS VP of Sales and Marketing says, “NCL V9.3 represents a major breakthrough in high-production, multi-axis programming capabilities making it possible for manufacturers to take advantage of the many 5-axis machines now available on the market.”

NCL V9.3 can reduce roughing and finishing programming operations by as much as 80% and multi-axis programming has never been easier”, says Dave Schultz, Support Manager for NCCS.

NCL V9.3 includes dozens of new productivity boosting enhancements that enable the rapid creation of tool paths to machine complex parts.

All-new waterline roughing quickly roughs complex models

  • Recognizes stock and part geometry
  • Stock model can be included with the model to be machined or the system will automatically calculate a contour or rectangular stock model
  • The user can specify the bottom and top levels or the system will automatically calculate the extent of the area to machine
  • Machine the entire model or only a selected portion of the model
  • Machine the model from any tool axis orientation
  • The tool path is fully associative - simply open a new model containing engineering changes and regenerate the tool path
  • The roughing parameters can be saved as a template that can be used to quickly machine similar components

New high-production pocketing easily generates efficient tool paths

  • Easy selection of pocket and island boundaries gives the user total control of what to machine
  • Machine an unlimited number of specific pockets in a single visit to the pocket form
  • Simply click a face to machine an entire pocket
  • Quick and easy access to machining parameters
  • Machine all pockets at a constant z-level or machine to depth one pocket at a time

Creation of opposite hand parts made simple

  • Mirror the part and simply reapply automated tool paths
  • Multi-axis sequential tool paths can be automatically reversed to retain original cut direction, including feeds and cutter compensation conditions

New verification, simulation and inspection capabilities

  • Easy verification of tool paths generated in multiple setups
  • Simulation of automated clamping and fixturing mechanisms
  • Thorough comparison of the cut part with the as-designed model, including the graphic depiction of all under- and over-cut areas, and/or a detailed printable report of out-of-tolerance cuts

Aerospace Application Library (AAL) new features and enhancements

  • New user-controlled entry and exit techniques for contouring tool paths
  • Automated tooling tab creation and machining
  • Enhanced flange top feature machining

NCL is a powerful Computer-Aided Manufacturing system designed to provide a maximum degree of flexibility in creating tool paths to produce machined parts of any complexity. NCL differentiates itself by offering a unique blend of automated and user-controlled tool path generation techniques that result in reduced programming time and increased quality.
